HKUST is the premier science and technology university in Hong Kong which is now part of China, but with a longer history of cultural links to the United Kingdom. It is not to be confused with the University of Hong Kong which is also highly regarded. HKUST is a relatively young institution, but it has achieved high rankings. The reputation and excellence of Hong Kong in the area of technology and services is a very positive aspect for the GPA ranking of this institution. It enjoys significant name recognition but the global career impact remains regional. Its web presence is substandard compared to expectations and similar institutions.
