KAUST Ranking (King Abdullah University of Science & Technology) 2017

The KAUST ranking in the GPA system is Top 50 / Tier 3.

The King Abdullah University of Science & Technology, in Saudi Arabia, is a recently established (2009) but tremendously well-funded, staffed and equipped institution of higher learning with the a recognized potential for global impact. The institution, although enjoying name recognition and tremendous funding (allowing to hire outstanding faculty members), KAUST may suffer from the controversial image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and of its desert climate.

Overall, KAUST is an outstanding national and regional institution, with global ambitions, noted for its excellent communication, and based on these factors is ranked among the World’s Top 50 with GPA Tier 2-3 status.

Additional information: Institutional History

  • KAUST officially opened on September 23, 2009. The first president of the university was Choon Fong Shih. On February 16, 2013, the executive committee of the board of trustees at KAUST appointed Jean-Lou Chameau, the former president of the California Institute of Technology, as the new President of KAUST.  It was announced in 2013 that KAUST had one of the fastest growing research and citation records in the world.
