The St Andrews University ranking in the GPA system is Top 50 / Tier 2.

The  University of Saint Andrews (in Scotland) is not to be confused with St Andrews University (in the USA). In common practice, “University of Oxford” is referred to as Oxford (or Oxford University) and University of Saint Andrews as Saint Andrews or Saint Andrew University.

St Andrews is the most well-known institution of higher learning in Scotland. It is made up from a variety of institutions, including three constituent colleges (United College, St Mary’s College, and St Leonard’s College) and 18 academic schools organised into four faculties. The university occupies historic and modern buildings located throughout the town. The student body is notably diverse: over 120 nationalities are represented with over 45% of its intake from countries outside the UK; about one-eighth of the students are from the rest of the EU and the remaining third are from overseas — 15% from North America alone. St Andrew has remarkable name-brand recognition globally, and is indeed a highly internationalized institution which delivers global career opportunities to its graduates.

  • History and heritage. Founded in the fifteenth century, St Andrews is Scotland’s first university and the third oldest in the English speaking world. Teaching began in the community of St Andrews in 1410 and the University was formally constituted by the issue of a papal bull in 1413.
